West Ham manager David Moyes says he was never worried about former club Everton’s relegation last season.
The West Ham manager, who face his former Merseyside club on Sunday, was able to lift their ‘relegation panic’ as many fans and pundits predicted they would suffer relegation for the first time since 1951.
Moyes said: ‘I always felt that Everton had enough good players last year to get out of trouble. The club, what they stand for there, they’ve been in the league for so long, I always felt that Everton would have enough to get out of it.

‘It was close but I never really felt that Everton would be one of the teams that went down’.
Moyes will take a ‘trip down memory lane’ when he visits the club he previously managed for over 11 years.
During that time he took the club back to Europe on a regular basis and saw them challenge for Champions League places and trophies.
Now the main concern is guiding West Ham to just their second win of the season and a climb out of the relegation zone for the first time.
And he is considering handing a Premier League debut to summer signing Flynn Downes after he put in a ‘very good’ performance in their Europa Conference League opener against Romanian side FCSB.

Moyes has admitted the 23-year-old former Ipswich and Swansea midfielder still has room for improvement, but is excited about the Englishman’s prospects.
He added: ‘I’ve been pleased with him, he’s a great lad and I hope he’ll play a lot of games for us.
‘There are parts of his game that we want him to improve on from what we’ve already seen. We want him to play more often, get him used to playing at a competitive level, but I think we feel we have someone who can develop in the next year or two.

– There will be changes and if I see he is ready to play, we could play Flynn if we needed him. I’m not afraid to play him.
“I think he is another player who needs to get ready for the level and speed of what is expected of Premier League players.”
Everton will be without goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who has picked up a thigh injury, ruling him out until after the international break, while Moyes has not reported any new injuries to his West Ham squad.
