NRL power couple Millie Boyle and Adam Elliott have announced their engagement after the latter got down on one knee during a romantic beachside proposal on his birthday.
Elliott, 28, and Boyle, 24, were childhood friends growing up on the NSW south coast before reconnecting and embarking on a whirlwind romance late last year.
The two Newcastle Knights superstars announced their engagement on Instagram on Thursday after Elliott surprised the reigning NRLW premiership captain on Sunday with a stunning ring owned by his great-grandmother that he had redesigned.

The distressed duo appeared to be at a seaside location with a bespoke picnic set up in the background behind them.
“Can’t wait to marry the absolute love of my life,” a clearly ecstatic Boyle wrote on his social media account after the proposal.

Knight’s content creator Gee Nelson captured the beautiful moment in the most Australian way – hiding in the bushes – but a delighted Elliott was grateful he was able to capture what will undoubtedly be one of the happiest of his life.
‘Hahaha yes brother you are a weapon! Forever grateful my man,’ Elliott wrote on Nelson’s Instagram.
Elliott and Boyle’s blossoming relationship was put squarely in the public eye when the pair were kicked out of a Gold Coast restaurant after being found together in a men’s toilet in August 2021.
It led to Elliott’s lucrative contract with the Bulldogs being torn up, but in the face of public scrutiny the pair confirmed their relationship in October.
The pair juggled long distance for a while as Elliott moved to the Raiders and Boyle captained the Knights; but it seems to have only strengthened the relationship.

Both are now based in Newcastle and will play for the club next season and if Elliott’s reaction to Boyle and her side winning the NRLW grand final on October 2 is anything to go by, it will be a very happy marriage between both the players and their club. .
As Boyle lifted the trophy at the Accor Stadium, Elliott could be seen on the Fox Sports broadcast wiping away tears of pride and joy before celebrating well into the morning in Newcastle with the captain and her team-mates.
He and a friend were also seen wearing what appeared to be custom-made T-shirts with Boyle’s name and a picture of her. He could also be seen wearing her premiership ring.

Speaking after the NRLW grand final, and before starting his three-year, $1.4 million contract with Newcastle, Elliott paid a loving tribute to his now-fiancé and what she had already achieved at the club.
‘I’ve been on this journey for a while now with Millie and I knew how much pressure was on her and Tamika [Upton] coming down from the Broncos,’ he told Newcastle Herald.
‘To see what Millie and Tamika did to get here and how much they meant to the town and how much the town meant to them and it wasn’t just the two of them – there’s a really good group of girls there – but there was a lot of pressure on the two girls.
‘I couldn’t be prouder.’
After a period of long distance, with Boyle in Brisbane and Newcastle and Elliott in Canberra, the couple are now happily settled in Newcastle
The couple, who both grew up in the Bega region on the state’s far south coast, are now happily settled in the exclusive Newcastle suburb of Mereweather.
In addition to her football commitments, Boyle, the 2021 women’s Dally M medalist, is the face of the Trainer Group, which specializes in inclusion and disability training programmes. It’s a cause close to both the couple’s hearts, as Boyle’s sister Hannah has Down’s Syndrome and Elliott’s brother James is autistic.
There’s no doubt their journey from toilet to married couple will be one of the NRL’s love stories for two of the most loved footballers.
