Ring Doorbell Camera

Ring provided Insider with a statement following a near deadly Florida shooting.
An innocent women fled gunfire after a father-son duo responded to Ring doorbell alerts Saturday morning, officials say.
Earlier this month, a woman says her mother took revenge on a package thief seen on Ring doorbell camera by pooping in an Amazon box.

Security and smart home company Ring has issued a statement following a Saturday doorbell alert that led to a Florida woman fleeing gunfire.

The Amazon-owned company condemned the actions of Gino Colonacosta, 73, and his son Rocky, 15, after officials said the pair opened fire on a woman sitting in her car outside in response to a notification from their Ring doorbell.

Ring provided Insider Friday with the following statement on the incident.

“Ring builds products that help customers know what’s going on in and around their home; connect with each other and their communities; and responsibly engage with public safety agencies when necessary. We don’t condone vigilantism,” the statement read.

According to officials, the Colonacostas believed there was burglar and armed themselves with .45 caliber firearms after a neighbor dropped off a package that had been mistakenly delivered to him at their Winter Haven apartment.

In a Monday news conference, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said the “way out of control” pair fired seven shots at an innocent woman sitting in a car on her phone nearly 100 yards away.

Although the woman was able to alert the police and speed away unharmed, police said one bullet went through an empty car seat and lodged in the driver’s seat.

“Our victim was that close to death, and certainly, had there been a baby in the car seat, the baby would’ve been killed,” Judd said in the conference.

In October, a TikToker shared the repulsive way her mother decided to deter a package thief they’d caught on camera with their Ring doorbell. After a failed attempt to call the thief out, the creator, who calls herself Destiny, says her mother decided to poop in an Amazon box as revenge.

“She took a s*** on an Amazon box, covered it in a smiley face balloon and wrote a little message inside for the thief and then she retaped the box to make it look like a regular Amazon box,” Destiny says in the video.

Insider has not been able to independently verify the woman’s actions.

In a follow up video, Destiny says a different thief took the package, so her mom would have to “sh!t in another box,” according to the caption.
