According to MirrorLondon-based Maya hoped to trademark her name on a range of products, from perfumes to jewellery.
A representative for the American actress and singer told the publication: ‘Maya J is a registered trademark of Maya J Jenkins, and the artist retains the exclusive use of entertainment in the United States.
“If the USPTO has alerted Maya Jama to any conflicts due to similarity of names and the use of names within the same industries, then we should all thank the USPTO for fulfilling its mission to help protect trademarks in its database”.

Last year, it was reported that the presenter wants to go one step further and become the latest celebrity to launch a makeup line.
Maya was understood to want to launch the line in 2021 but instead was “taking her time with cosmetics,” according to Sun.
Maya will launch the line, which will include lip kits, eye shadows, foundations and primers, when “it’s the right thing to do,” the source said.

‘Maya has now registered cosmetics under the brand.’
