Iran’s foreign minister said on Saturday that his country has received a message from the US expressing the US haste to conclude the nuclear deal with Iran, the official IRNA news agency reported.

“Three days ago, we received a message from the United States telling them that the (International Atomic Energy) Agency (IAEA) charges against Iran’s nuclear program must be resolved” before an agreement is reached, said Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in the Armenian capital Yerevan.

Asked about US officials’ comments that nuclear negotiations are not on the US agenda, he said: “Americans are contradictory in their words and behavior as they are in a hurry to come to an agreement on their (recent) message. .”

As the United States continues to exchange messages with Iran, “it is trying to put political and psychological pressure (on Iran) and want to make concessions in the negotiations,” he said.

“We are not making concessions on the American side, and we are moving within the framework of logic and the framework of an agreement that respects the red lines of the Islamic Republic of Iran, but at the same time we never leave the negotiating table,” he emphasized.

Iran signed the nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), with world powers in July 2015, agreeing to curb its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions against the country. However, Washington withdrew from the agreement and re-imposed unilateral sanctions on Tehran, prompting the latter to renounce some of its obligations under the pact.

Talks about the revival of the JCPOA started in April 2021 in Vienna, Austria. After the last round of talks in Vienna in early August, there was no breakthrough.
