DETROIT – Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Kim Lamont Pointer, 51, of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of his wife, Charlovette Pointer, 51.
On October 16, 2022, at approximately 10:14 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 11340 block of Archdale Street for a reported home invasion. Upon their arrival, officers were met by the defendant.
Officers located the victim inside of the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medics arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
It is alleged that Defendant Pointer fired a handgun multiple times, fatally wounding the victim.
Kim Lamont Pointer has been charged with one count of Premeditated First-Degree Murder, one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, one count of Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and three counts of Felony Firearm.
“This is Wayne County’s 69th domestic violence homicide since 2019. Thousands of non-fatal domestic violence warrant requests have been presented to this office over the same time period. And those are just the ones that are reported. These statistics are beyond sobering,” said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.
