An Irish woman died on Sunday off a cliff path in Mallorca while hiking with a group of fellow tourists.
The 75-year-old lost her balance and plunged more than 60 feet while out with the group of about a dozen other foreign hikers.
Police mountaineers and firefighters were among the rescuers mobilized after the alarm was raised around noon on Sunday.

But they couldn’t do anything to save her life, and her body was taken by a vigilante helicopter to a heliport at the island’s Inca hospital.
The tragedy occurred at Pas d’en Segarra, a small cliff overhang where a trail popular with Sunday walkers runs.
The dead woman, who has not yet been named, is said to have walked the five-hour Puig Roig circuit, a scenic long loop around the base of a mountain called Puig Roig in the municipality of Escorca in northwest Mallorca.
The classic route offers beautiful panoramic views of the island’s north coast and passes by an old police barracks built as part of the fight against tobacco and alcohol smugglers operating in the area.
Some people accompanying the accident victim, who police said were all Irish, are said to have witnessed the tragedy.
It was not immediately clear whether the woman’s family belonged to the group and where she came from in Ireland.
A Civil Guard spokesman, who confirmed the incident yesterday, said: ‘Today a 75-year-old Irish woman died after an accident while walking in the area.

“The victim fell from a height of about 20 meters after she lost her balance and suffered a serious head injury that killed her where she had her accident.”
A well-placed source added: ‘She was the oldest of a group of about 12 people who were all Irish. She hit her head when she fell and died almost instantly.’
An autopsy will take place in the next few hours and a routine investigation has been launched by a local court.
The route that the dead woman is said to have traveled is one of the classic hiking trails in the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, which is about 80 kilometers long.
It stretches for about 80 kilometers from Andratx in the southwest to the Cap de Formentor in the far north of the island.
In 2011, it received the status of UNESCO World Heritage.
