Angela Bassett appears as never seen before in the November/December issue of Essence magazine.
The seasoned actress, 64, was transformed into a cartoon character as she graced the outlet’s latest issue.
In illustrations by Darius X. Moreno Angela’s beauty was translated into cartoon form to accompany her interview.

One of the two covers shows the Golden Globe award winner in a low-cut green tank top as a voluminous, wavy curl of hair flows around her.
The mother of two’s famously high cheekbones were reflected in the image, as was careful attention to her perky chest.
Like the real siren on screen, Bassett’s strong eyebrows were drawn and arched, complementing the drawn version of her chubby pout.
“Wakanda’s Queen shares what she truly considers luxury,” the cover read, referring to Angela’s upcoming Black Panther movie, which is due out next month.

A second iteration of the publication’s front page featured multiple anime comics from the star.
On Monday, the official Essence Instagram account shared multiple drawings from the spread, writing, “There was no need to turn Angela Bassett into her own comic book.”
In the range of graphics, the entertainer draws lifelike creations from designers such as Schiaparelli, Proenza Schouler, Victor Glemaud and Aliétte.
The caption promoting the new song continued: “We sat down with our November/December cover star and thought about building her resume, life after What’s Love Got To Do With It, and about becoming the highest paid black woman in TV history.’

Moreno was able to encapsulate the movie star’s signature traits such as her strong arms and emotional eyes in the images.
