Kamala Harris has been accused of hypocrisy after demanding that people “speak out against hatred” after the attack on Paul Pelosi, while still failing to convict the attempted murder of Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Harris, who campaigned in Philadelphia on Friday ahead of the midterms, said the early morning attack on Pelosi’s San Francisco home was “tragic” and “extreme violence.”
Harris called for an end to ‘hate and division’, adding: ‘I am convinced that we all, each of us, must speak out against hatred, of course we must speak out against violence and speak to ourselves. .’
Critics pointed out that Harris and President Biden did not speak out against hatred when Kavanaugh’s life was threatened in June by a 26-year-old Californian who was traveling across the country intent on killing him. Kavanaugh was the target for his support for the repeal of Roe v. Wade.
On Friday, however, Harris took the moral high ground.

Biden has also spoken out against the attack on Paul Pelosi, saying it was “despicable” and condemning the “political violence,” but has not directly condemned Kavanaugh’s attacker months later.
Kavanaugh’s attacker, Nicholas John Roske, 26, of Simi Valley, California, was arrested on June 8, armed with a pistol, knife and burglary tools after calling his sister, who encouraged him to call 911 and hand himself over. .
At a news conference shortly after the attempted attack, the president declined to condemn it — leaving it to the White House spokesperson to pronounce condemnation.
Biden “condemns this person’s actions in the strongest terms,” press officer Karine Jean-Pierre said in June.
Kayleigh McEnany, former White House press secretary to President Trump, noted that the president had “plenty of opportunity” to condemn the violent act on Fox News at the time.
‘He walked up the South Lawn; the press is there — and often you want to get a message out, you stop and say something,” she said, noting that the president could have made four more comments right after math.
“We’re getting silence from Joe and Kamala,” McEnany concluded.
On Friday, however, Biden said directly to the crowd in Philadelphia, “There is too much violence — political violence. Too much hate, too much vitriol.

Harris said she spoke to “Speaker Pelosi” on Friday.
“And, I mean, this was an act of extreme violence. And I think we’re looking at a time in our country where there’s so much discourse fueled by hatred and division.
“And anyone who pretends to be a leader, I think, really needs to understand the meaning and impact of their words and attitudes on these things.”
Paul Pelosi, 82, underwent surgery on Friday after being attacked with a hammer by an intruder in the early hours of Friday morning, sustaining a skull fracture.
His wife, also 82, was in Washington DC at the time.
The attacker, David DePape, 42, yelled, “Where’s Nancy?” as he entered their house. He has been arrested and will be charged with attempted murder.
Nancy Pelosi has represented the San Francisco constituency since 1987: Harris was the District Attorney of San Francisco from 2004-11.
Harris said Friday, “I pray for Paul’s recovery. I know the Pelosis, and this is tragic.
“Someone literally broke into their house and said, ‘Where’s Nancy?’
And I firmly believe that we all, each and every one of us, must speak out against hatred, we must, of course, speak out against violence and speak to ourselves.
“There is definitely room, and it’s important to have public debate when there is disagreement about policy. But what we’ve seen lately is so low that we’re reducing it to something that I believe is beneath the dignity and intelligence of the American people.”

Barack Obama, also on the campaign trail, in Georgia, condemned the attack on Paul Pelosi.
“I want to take a moment to pray for a friend of mine, Mr. Paul Pelosi, who was attacked,” Obama said at a rally in Atlanta.
