ShareSoc’s Investing Basics Videos Launched on the London Stock Exchange
Individual investors gathered on the London Stock Exchange and called ahead of the market on Tuesday for the launch of ShareSoc’s Investing Basics videos.
ShareSoc – the nonprofit for individual investors – videos are ten jargon-free episodes about investing presented by full-time investor and former TV journalist Glen Goodman.
ShareSoc launched the videos at the LSE, where members participated in the official fair, prior to a series of stakeholder talks and a panel discussion.
Among the speakers was Lord Lee, the patron of ShareSoc, who is considered to be the first Isa millionaire, talking investors through his 64 years in the markets.
Lord Lee shared how he went from investing in a shipping and aviation stock that had gone bankrupt to developing a passion for investing that he has now passed on to his grandchildren.
The veteran investor has recently set up portfolios for his grandchildren, containing individual stocks that give them a stake in companies with which to gain hands-on experience.
Lord Lee, patron of ShareSoc, talked about his 64-year investment journey and how he interests his grandchildren in investing
Also spoke at the event was ShareSoc Investing Basics video host Glen Goodman who described his journey to become a full-time investor and discussed the messages he gets from everyday investors working their way through tricky markets.
Marcus Stuttard, head of AIM and UK Primary Markets at the London Stock Exchange, also spoke to the public about his role and how the LSE is trying to ensure that ordinary investors get the best experience possible.
Richard Hunter of Interactive Investor and Simon Lambert, editor of This is Money, also spoke and a live Q&A discussion followed.
Glen Goodman, the video host of Investing Basics, explained how he got in touch with a new generation of investors
Marcus Stuttard, Head of AIM and Primary Markets at the LSE, told how important ordinary investors are to the stock market
The videos about the basics of investing look at investing in stocks and funds and cover everything from an introduction to investing, how to boost your research, how to decide when to buy and sell and tips on how to discover great investments.
They are ideal for both those new to investing and experienced investors who can brush up on the basics and clean up their portfolios.
This is Money has partnered with ShareSoc to promote the videos because we want our readers and as many people as possible to have access to this engaging and useful piece of financial education.
We will be publishing the videos and excerpts on This is Money, with the first introductory video and the second on the wonder of compounding here.
But you can also watch the whole series on the Sharesoc Investing Basics Site.
