After two years of COVID cancellations, social distancing and soul-destroying boredom caused by repeated lockdowns, business seemed to resume on Monday night as Jonathan Ross revived his annual Halloween party.
Protective face masks were traded for something more spooky when the genius chat show host welcomed trick-or-treaters to his sprawling family home in leafy Hampstead, north London — traditionally the venue for his annual extravaganza.
Ross, 61, opted for skeletal white face paint and a gothic black outfit complemented by a large top hat as he welcomed young people outside the property he shares with wife Jane Goldman and their three children.
However, he appeared to be cautious after two years of coronavirus restrictions, and the party was moved to popular Camden nightclub Koko.
Stars including heavily pregnant presenter and DJ Ashley James, comedian Katherine Ryan and Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse led the way as the venue hosted the annual event for what appeared to be the first time in its history.

Confirming his decision to cancel in 2021 for the sake of his daughter, he told Good Morning Britain: ‘One of our children is not doing well… it’s fibromyalgia which is quite debilitating. She’s back at our house and we’re taking care of her.’
Ross, whose annual bash is normally a staple of the celebrity calendar, explained that he wasn’t comfortable throwing the party as she struggles with the condition and feared that one of his guests would get sick from Covid after attending the party, so decided to cancel the event.
He said: ‘I had a feeling it wouldn’t be over and it looks like the numbers are creeping up again. We always have a few hundred people at the party and as you know about half are from show business.
“So if there was an outbreak, half the shows on TV would be wiped out, so we don’t want that, we wouldn’t want to be a super spreader event.”

He added: ‘My daughter, we thought she had Lung Covid but found out she had fibromyalgia so we want to be aware of that and not have so much noise when she’s upstairs.’
“She’s upstairs in the bedroom and I thought, ‘I can’t conscientiously hold a big loud fun party downstairs and one of my kids is locked up in a room upstairs. It would be something out of a horror novel.
“So really, just out of good conscience, we’re not going to do it, but hopefully we’ll be back next year.”
