Former Hollyoaks star Rachel Shenton stars in the highly anticipated remake of the 2008 classic horror, The Strangers, Deadline has confirmed.
The British actress, 34, who won an Oscar in 2018 for her short film, The Silent Child, will play Debbie, sister of Madelaine Petsch’s character, in the reboot of the original, starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman. .
Set for release in 2023, The Strangers tells the story of a young couple (Petsch and Froy Gutierrez) who embark on a cross-country drive for new beginnings, but are terrorized by masked strangers when they stop at a remote Oregon AirBnb.

The reboot is the first in a planned trilogy of Strangers films, with Lionsgate having finished filming all three films in Slovakia. The film will also star Gabriel Basso and Ema Horvath.
The new trilogy will be directed by Renny Harlin.

Rachel was on her way to Oscar glory for the first time after seeing her beloved father, Geoff, struggle to communicate when he lost his hearing two years before his death in 2001.
His plight inspired Rachel, his only child, to learn sign language and eventually spurred her to write her 20-minute film, The Silent Child, which told the story of a deaf girl born into a family struggling to cope. to cope with the disease.

“I thought to myself, ‘I’m not a writer, I’m an actor, should I just stick with acting?’ I had all those things in mind, but I’m glad I went through with it!’
