Ched Evans’ superbly executed goals orchestrated a 2-1 win for Preston against Reading on Tuesday night, pushing the Lillywhites into the top four.
After a slow start to the match, the Welshman opened the scoring, in the 52nd minute, and saw a perfectly timed header into the bottom left corner of the goal.
Reading clawed their way back into the game soon after, with Robbie Brady pulling down Andy Yiadom just off the touchline after the Reading wing-back had run around the Preston defense with some fantastic skill.

Lucas Joao converted a penalty to score his fourth goal of the season to bring Reading level.
But it was Evans who would have the last laugh, condemning Reading to their second defeat in the league in three games with a throbbing strike across the goalmouth in the bottom left corner.
Preston now move up to fifth in the Championship, level with Queens Park Rangers and seven points behind Burnley at the top of the table, having now won three of their last five games.

Reading, who pressed late in the game, could not find an equaliser, with Tom Ince and Tyrese Fornah both going close with long range shots.
Paul Ince’s side will remain in 11th place in the table and will next travel to 7th-placed Watford, who have lost just one game in their last five outings.
