Two anonymous civil lawsuits have been filed against former Scrubs and Californication writer and executive producer Eric Weinberg, accusing him of two separate sexual assaults, one of which allegedly took place in his daughter’s bedroom.
The cases detail encounters Weinberg had at his home in 2019 with two women he courted in the Los Feliz area before returning them to his childhood home and allegedly assaulting one and raping the other.
Weinberg, 62, was arrested earlier in July and again in October and pleaded not guilty to 18 charges of sexual assault, including rape, against at least eight women — including restaurant manager Kayra Raeckle and storyboard artist Avian Anderson.
His $5 million bail was revoked in October and he has been in prison since late October when a Los Angeles Supreme Court judge described him as a possible “serial rapist.”
Emerging reports suggest Weinberg may have been involved in a pattern of predatory behavior and sexual misconduct dating back to 2000.
In 2014, police presented two rape cases involving Weinberg to the Public Prosecution Service, but both were dropped due to lack of evidence.
Since then, several women have described to the press how Weinberg used photography and his Hollywood credentials as a pretext to gain access to and proximity to them.
Two new civil lawsuits have been filed against Hollywood writer and producer Eric Weinberg for various sexual assault and abuse stories. The lawsuits follow the arrest of the 62-year-old in October on 18 separate counts of criminal sexual conduct
In late October, Weinberg’s $5 million bail was revoked by a Los Angeles judge, who said the former Scrubs producer may be a “serial rapist.”
Weinberg was a writer and producer on several TV shows, including Scrubs (cast picture), Veronica’s Closet, Californication, Anger Management, Men at Work and Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher
Some women said that Weinberg pressured them to take off their clothes during photo shoots and described how he engaged in sexual activity without their consent – sometimes taking pictures of the acts.
In the first of the two new civil lawsuitsWeinberg is accused of luring an anonymous woman to his home, where he then assaulted her.
The two met through a dating app and exchanged messages in which Weinberg, according to the indictment, “came across as charming, thoughtful and respectful of sexual boundaries.”
After a date, the two returned to the home of the Los Feliz van Weinberg family, where upon arrival Weinberg “shockedly opened his pants and exposed his penis.”
He then allegedly forced the woman to perform sexual acts, which she believes he filmed without her consent.
The second suit comes from another anonymous woman, whose meeting took place in February 2019.
Weinberg approached the woman in a supermarket parking lot and offered her the opportunity to participate in a photo shoot to help her start a modeling career.
Weinberg would then have shown the woman photos from his portfolio and of his wife and children. He allegedly told the plaintiff that he had “done photo shoots for many Disney stars.”
According to the suit, the woman is “neurodivergent” and “has been diagnosed with ADHD, which makes her less attuned to social cues and particularly vulnerable to a sexual predator like Weinberg.”
The producer would then have photographed the woman in his daughter’s bedroom and then attacked her when she did not follow his sexual instructions.
According to the indictment, Weinberg then stood “between her and the door, demanding assurances that she would not tell the police that he raped her.”
The first wife’s attorney, Micha Star Liberty, has argued that the fact that Weinberg exposed herself to her provoked a trauma response — meaning that “survival reflexes and passivity habits often take over and the victim avoids creating a scene or hurt the sex offender’s ego in order to survive.’
“In this case, women have made certain decisions that may not seem rational to other people, but are actually the brains functioning in a way to protect them from violence or threats to their lives,” she wrote.
Weinberg is said to have been a sexual predator for years, building a reputation in his upscale Los Angeles neighborhood of Los Angeles, where he lived with his wife and children.
In addition to the two new civil lawsuits, Weinberg faces 18 charges for assaulting at least eight women. He has been held without bail since Oct. 25
Kayra Raecke, a restaurant manager, is one of dozens of women who have accused Weinberg of sexual assault
Avian Anderson, 33, also told The Hollywood Reporter how Weinberg used his reputation to lure victims in
Weinberg’s attorneys did not immediately respond to the new lawsuits filed against their client.
His divorce attorney Karen Silver previously described similar charges against him as “strategically placed criminal charges” arising out of a “bitter custody dispute.”
“These claims have been previously investigated and reviewed by both law enforcement and the Los Angeles family court and the results have gone on to reveal a wealth of evidence, documentation and expert analysis that completely undermines the story now being circulated,” she said.
Plaintiffs seek unspecified general and punitive damages for assault, sexual battery, gender violence, sexual harassment, assault, battery, willful infliction of emotional distress and negligence.
Liberty said society “may never know the full extent of the damage he has done, but for those women who are ready and brave enough to step forward, they must have access to accountability through the civil justice system and the damages.” get back what they have suffered so that they can do their best to rebuild their lives.”
Weinberg’s Hollywood credits include his time as a writer and EP for hospital comedy Scrubs from 2002-2006, as well as on FX’s Anger Management, starring Charlie Sheen. He has received five Emmy nominations over the years for his work on Scrubs and Politically Incorrect With Bill Maher
Weinberg is due to appear in court again on November 15.
