Firebrand Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert told reporters on Thursday that she is confident she will win re-election even if she is separated from her Democratic rival by less than 1,000 votes.

Boebert’s razor-sharp race has taken election observers by surprise. It is one of the strongest examples of Democrats exceeding expectations across the country as the Republicans’ promised “red wave” faded.

But she told reporters she’ll win “of course” — ignoring a question from DailyMail.com about whether she’s backing Donald Trump in making a “big announcement” on Nov. 15, despite a disappointing GOP performance in her race. and others.

Boebert also denied being caught off guard by the close race, suggesting instead that disappointing Republican candidates further down the ticket in Colorado dragged her down.

As of Thursday night, Boebert leads former Aspen city councilor Adam Frisch by just 0.2 percent, with 98 percent of the vote counted.

That didn’t stop her from returning to Washington, DC, two days after Election Day, where she participated in the House Freedom Caucus hearing on the COVID-19 pandemic.

Asked by reporters whether she will support House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy’s bid for House Speaker in the event Republicans win the majority in the chamber, Boebert quickly turned the conversation to her own race.

“Is this what you’re all focused on? Do you know that I – do you know I’m 794 votes ahead of my race right now?’ Boebert told a bunch of reporters leaving the event. “That’s kind of my focus at the moment.”

About her chances, Boebert said: ‘Of course I expect to win. It will be great.’

Walking with her husband by her side, the Colorado Republican claimed she wasn’t surprised by how close her race is — despite the Red District being won by Trump in 2020.

‘I expected [Colorado Governor Jared Polis] and [Democratic Senator Michael Bennet] to wear some of it. Yes,’ she said, contemplating the narrow margins.

“I don’t know if there wasn’t enough enthusiasm for our top candidates for governor and senate, or what happened there, but there was a lot of shift in the votes there.”

Bennet was considered one of the most vulnerable Democratic senators going into Tuesday night’s midterm. His opponent, construction manager Joe O’Dea, had garnered support from incumbent Republican leaders who wanted to see a post-Trump GOP future.

O’Dea had distinguished himself from the vast majority of Republican candidates by actively opposing Trump and even pledged to campaign against him in the 2024 election cycle.

Boebert denied being surprised that her race was so close in comments to reporters after leaving a House Freedom Caucus event. She suggested it was the fault of bland Republican candidates further down Colorado

Republicans need to win nine more races to get a majority in the House

The former president was celebrating on his Truth Social app when O’Dea lost, despite being one of the determining factors in Democrats’ very real chance of retaining the Senate at this point.

Boebert replied ‘I am my support’ when asked if she thought the national party had given her enough support in the race.

The Congresswoman and restaurant owner of Shooter’s Grill has made a national name with outspoken and sometimes controversial statements, such as supporting members of Congress who can carry firearms to the United States Capitol.

As it stands, Republicans have 209 seats in the House in the new Congress and the Democrats 189. While some Democrats have expressed hopes about their chances of holding the chamber, the odds are slim.

In the Senate, however, the Democrats trail just one seat behind the Republicans.

The GOP has 49, Democrats have 48. Close races in Georgia, Arizona and Nevada are now likely to decide whether Republicans win the entire Congress.
