Like most apps on your phone, WhatsApp stores data in a temporary cache, designed to make the app run faster should it need that information again the next time you run WhatsApp. That generally works well and makes your phone seem to run faster and more smoothly, but the cache can get quite large.
You might need to clear the WhatsApp cache, either to save storage space on your phone or to troubleshoot a problem. Either way, you can easily clear the cache.

How to clear the WhatsApp cache on iPhone
You can clear the WhatsApp cache on your iPhone, but iOS doesn’t include a one-tap way to clear the cache in the same way that Android does. Of course, you will need to log into your WhatsApp account again after reinstalling the app.
