Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch said he believes the United States men’s national team will thrive on anyone who expects them to lose against England.
Marsch is the only American manager in the English Premier League and currently has his side in 12th place, with just one game left before the league pauses for the World Cup.
Despite leading an England side, the Leeds boss revealed he will see the Group B showdown between England and the USMNT, but of course he will be cheering on the Americans.

He admitted it will be a tough challenge for the US, but stressed that the young side could thrive below expectations.
“I know it takes their absolute best performance to stand a chance,” said Marsch.
“But I think one of the things that is uniquely American is that sense of fearlessness. And we almost thrive and enjoy the moments when things are the hardest and when everyone expects us to lose.”
Two of Marsch’s players were added to the 26-man roster of American coach Gregg Berhalter on Wednesday.
Midfielders Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson will both play key roles for Berhalter in Qatar, as they will for Leeds.
While Adams and Aaronson were widely expected to be on the US roster, the team had several surprises.

Aaronson’s position came as a little surprise as he was placed in midfield for the US, where he was mainly used as a winger for both Berhalter and Marsch.
“He can do both,” Berhalter replied, “midfield… is light for us compared to the front position, so we can see he’s using him there as well.”
Other big surprises on the roster were the exclusion of goalkeeper Zack Steffen and the inclusion of Haji Wright as a striker as opposed to Jordan Pefok or Ricardo Pepi.
