Sparta Rotterdam played a 1-1 draw against FC Twente at Het Kasteel on Friday evening and it was a special evening for Maurice Steijn. The coach was happy that his team was able to take another point, after his son Sem gave de Tukkers the lead with a nice header.
“If one of them has to score, then so be it. It was a good goal too, that was the first thing I thought”, the sympathetic trainer looks back on the website of Voetbal International. “Fortunately I had my staff members who were still ahead of me, but otherwise I was on my own. Mothers was also there, but they also had a clear preference,” laughs Maurice Steijn, who is also proud of the attacking midfielder of FC Twente.
“Yes, he developed stormy last year with eighteen goals at ADO and went to a very nice club,” he continues enthusiastically. “He has been super taken care of by the team and the staff, I think he has shown from minute one that he can handle the level. He was unlucky that he was out for a while with a concussion, but how he came back is very good.” Maurice Steijn decides about the ‘number ten’ of FC Twente.
