The draw in Rotterdam against Sparta meant the last game for FC Twente before the World Cup break starts. The team from Enschede will play its next league match on January 6 against FC Emmen. Ron Jans looks back on the first part of the competition with a good feeling.

“Yes, good”, Jans says at RTV East. “If you look at the number of points achieved and the game shown, we just keep participating. The others don’t win so easily either. We participate and we will continue to do so.”

In the match against Sparta, Twente was unable to express the dominance in goals. The coach did not think that his team was operating too patiently. “I don’t think so,” says Jans. “The execution, the patience, letting the ball run, finding the free man from left to right and right to left, that’s not around sixteen. That’s where the individual actions have to come, the good crosses. You have to get into position there and there has to be a good line-up in front of the goal. I felt that it lacked that and not so much the patience. Because I think we played pretty well in the build-up.”

Sem Steijn’s goal is magnificent. “Yes, while Sem did not appear in the piece at all in the first half. That also indicates that we didn’t make the right decisions in the sixteen. It’s a shame if you dominate that you don’t go home with three points,” Jans concludes.
