Will Ferrell has begged fans for a spare room in Liverpool to host him and his mother Betty because she’s ‘dying to go to Eurovision’.

The actor, 55, sat down with presenter Zoe Ball on her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show on Tuesday morning as they discussed the annual song contest.

The Elf star revealed his mother’s dream of visiting Liverpool for Eurovision could be in tatters as the hotels are ‘all booked’.

The comedian remarked: ‘You know, my mother really wants me to take her to Eurovision.

‘She’s dying to go and she’s always wanted to go to Liverpool, but all the hotels are booked, right?’

In a call to arms, Zoe asked listeners of the morning show if they’d be ‘willing to take in Will Ferrell and his mum in Liverpool or the Liverpool area’ during Eurovision.

Will played along with the radio DJ’s request as he remarked that he and his mother would need a ‘clean and tidy room.’

He continued: ‘We’ll share a room! Two bunkbeds is all we need. I know we’re kidding – but my mum would love that, she’d be thrilled!’

Listeners took to social media in delight at the request as many offered their homes for Will to come and stay.

One Twitter user wrote: ‘Hi Will, saw your interview for your request to rent a room for Eurovision.

‘You can rent my one bedroom apartment with full facilities including parking. Apartment is situated on Lime Street in the heart of the city of Liverpool. 20 minutes walk from the arena.

The Twitter love-in didn’t end there as somebody else reached out to say: ‘Tell Will Ferrell he and his mum can stay at my house in Liverpool for the Eurovision Song Contest. I’ll even give him use of my car for three hours a day too if he wants.’

A final fan wrote: ‘My nan will host him, free with unlimited cuppa’s and transport via my granddads motorcycle collection.

During Will’s visit to London to promote his new movie Spirited which he co-stars in alongside Ryan Reynolds, the Step Brothers star discussed his Christmas plans.

He told Zoe: ‘We throw a big Swedish Christmas party every year. My wife is Swedish, or at least that’s what she tells me… I have no way to prove that!

‘So, we have Swedish decorations around the house – candles and a lot of trolls. We sing Swedish songs and Swedish Father Christmas comes to visit.’
