Good news for fans of badass ninjas and sexy digital ladies. Developer Team Ninja has confirmed that it wants to reboot its Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive franchises. That was revealed through a panel discussion where Fumihiko Yasuda, the studio’s big boss, explained more about future projects.
During the G-Star conference Busan, Yasuda dropped that he wants to share more news as soon as possible. Although it was mainly a slide in his presentation that attracted attention. Namely, the slide showed the two iconic series of Team Ninja, entitled ‘The future of Team Ninja – Reboot of popular series’.
It’s not the first time Yasuda has expressed his desire to work on Ninja Gaiden again. Although he felt that the time should be right for that. Earlier this year, he considered possibly outsourcing the series to another studio or a younger internal team. Imagine a Ninja Gaiden by Platinum Games? Fat cool, right?
Although Yasuda immediately tempered tempers. For example, he mentioned that the studio had no concrete announcements yet. After all, a collaboration with another studio requires a lot of management. And a younger team has to stay true to the classic formula. Well, apparently they’ve been cut through, otherwise Team Ninja wouldn’t be making the reboots public during a panel discussion.
Although it must be said that the games will probably take a while to arrive. After all, Team Ninja is currently still working on Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Rise of the Ronin. And given that the latter is only planned for 2024, we’re guessing that a new Ninja Gaiden or Dead or Alive won’t come before the end of 2024.
