Ultra-luxury submarine can carry three passengers 984ft underwater

When it comes to futuristic travel, this new ultra-luxury submarine has to be up there to find a way to explore the depths.

Capable of carrying three passengers at a time, the ‘Super Sub’ craft can plunge 984 feet (300 m) underwater at speeds of up to 10 knots (11 mph).

That’s 3-4 knots faster than the top cruising speed of a bottlenose dolphin and 7 knots faster than the average submersible.

The bullet-shaped electric submarine is aimed at ecotourists who want to have fun under the sea with turtles, sharks and other marine life.

Its design has been submitted by U-Boat Worx, a Dutch company that boasts that the submarine has the same efficient flow dynamics as an electric car.

“We are very excited about this development,” said Bert Houtman, CEO of U-Boat Worx.

“It’s something we’ve been working hard on, and now, to have the submersible with the highest possible flow dynamics, we couldn’t be more pleased.

‘We trust our customers will feel the same.

The Super Sub, which has four powerful thrusters generating 60 kW of thrust, was first introduced to the world in 2021.

U-Boat Worx marketing manager Roy Heijdra told DailyMail.com last year that prices for the ship started at $5.8 million (£4.8 million) for a base model.

“The model itself is aimed at both private owners and commercial companies,” Heijdra said at the time.

“It wouldn’t be surprising to see a high-end resort operate a Super Sub in the near future.”

The Super Sub’s life support system provides at least 96 hours of oxygen; however, passengers won’t see mysterious creatures from the ocean floor because it’s only rated for depths just under 1,000 feet (300 m).

This is a region of the ocean known as the mesopelagic or ‘twilight’ zone.

It is the last layer through which the sun’s rays penetrate and among its inhabitants are squid, swordfish and bioluminescent fish, as well as jellyfish, sharks and dolphins that go up to shallower waters at night to feed.

The company has billed the Super Sub as its “fastest and most maneuverable design, providing a dynamic diving experience and the ability to deal with strong currents.”

Its design has been submitted by U-Boat Worx, a Dutch company that boasts that the submarine has the same efficient flow dynamics as an electric car.

With a long tail and bubble-shaped cabin, the Super Sub weighs in at around 20,000 pounds and seats two passengers and a pilot comfortably.

The designers behind the innovative craft say it can make steep 30-degree ascents and descents while maintaining a 360-degree view for those on board.

The Super Sub will undergo sea trials in the spring of next year, but one model has already been sold to the first owner.

It is not clear how much they paid for it or how much U-Boat Worx spent on the design and construction of the vessel.

At 17.5 feet long and 7.2 feet tall, the new ultra-luxury submarine is roomier and faster than other submersibles.

Earlier this year, the company also introduced a luxury submarine called the U-Boat Worx Nexus Series (pictured), which can carry nine passengers up to 656 feet (200 meters) underwater.

By comparison, her rival Deepflight Dragon, at just 16.4 feet long and 3.6 feet tall, tops out at 4 knots (4.6 mph).

The Super Sub has ultralight lithium-ion batteries and a 62-kilowatt propulsion system capable of lasting up to eight hours underwater between charges.

Earlier this year, the company also introduced a luxury submarine called the U-Boat Worx Nexus Series, which can carry nine passengers up to 656 feet (200 meters) underwater.

The submarine has 900-914 liters of interior space per adult and can arrange its seats in various configurations.

On either side of the pilot, three full-size adult seats are available, while the pilot has a fixed seat in the center.

Alternatively, the seats can be rearranged to accommodate one pilot, six adults and two children, for a total of nine passengers.

It has a huge egg-shaped observation window and swivel seats so everyone on board can get a great view.

Again, U-Boat Worx did not announce the price of a seat on board, the price of the entire submarine, or any further details on how prospective customers can book.
