Google’s trade-in offers can get you the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro for free, depending on what phone you currently have.

You can take $100-$150 off Google’s Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 6a during a limited-time deal ahead of Black Friday, available from Google’s store and Amazon. In addition, you could get one of these phones for free — or close to it — via Google’s trade-in program, if you currently have the right Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, or iPhone.
Google’s Pixel 7 and Pixel 6a phones offer a unique proposition in the premium phone category: They’re not trying to be the most powerful phones you can buy, but rather focusing on offering unique smart features paired with one of the best cameras available on a phone. (We called Pixel 6a the best Android phone you can buy for under $500, and it’s now even cheaper.)
However, I need to mention that I’ve had issues with inconsistent scrolling with a Pixel 7 Pro review unit, which makes it unpleasant to use. It appears to be a widely reported issue, but not necessarily widespread, as many reviewers haven’t reported any scrolling issues during their testing.
The discounts are the lowest for the Pixel 7 ($100 off $599 for the 128GB model) and Pixel 6a ($150 off $499), and nearly the lowest for the Pixel 7 Pro ($150 off $899 for the 128GB model). Considering that the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are brand new, we don’t think you’ll get a better deal until next year.
As for the 6a, that only came out four months ago, in July 2022, which makes the $299 deal price terrific for one of the best entry-level Android phones you can buy.
If you want to go the trade-in route, we have a quick breakdown of the estimated trade-in values for eligible flagship phones. In some cases, it could mean a free device, but as with most trade-ins, you’ll need to turn in a fairly recent phone.
Google Pixel 6 series: $479 – $600Google Pixel 5 and 5a: $350 – $400Google Pixel 4 series and 4a: $295 – $325 Samsung Galaxy S22 series: $590 – $900Samsung Galaxy S21 series and S21 FE: $440 – $550Samsung Galaxy 20 series and S20 FE: $350 – $500Apple iPhone 13 series: $500 – $900Apple iPhone 12 series: $459 – $650Apple iPhone 11 series: $484 – $600
Depending on which phone you have to trade in, Google’s offer might surpass the value of the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, or Pixel 6a. If that’s the case, you’ll get credit to spend in the Google Store, in addition to a free device.
The trade-in is only through Google’s store, and here’s how it works: You’ll have to pay for the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, or Pixel 6a up front, and Google will refund your payment card once the company receives your old phone. For the physical trade-in process, Google will send you a kit in the mail to ship your old phone.
