Jay Leno, 72, to RETURN to the stage just days after sustaining third-degree burns
Jay Leno has revealed that he will return to acting, just days after being released from the hospital following a terrifying car fire that left him with third-degree burns.
The iconic TV host, 72, was at his Los Angeles mansion on Saturday, November 12, when one of the vehicles “burst into flames without warning,” and the star suffered facial burns and required skin graft surgery.
The star told paparazzi who greeted him when he stopped at a gas station on Tuesday that he was “fine” and had plans to drive the vintage car that caught fire next week as the car did nothing wrong.

The star also revealed that he will take the stage at 7 pm Sunday at the Comedy Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California, a venue where he has performed weekly for three decades.
When a snapper suggested she get some rest before the concert, the star quipped, ‘Yeah, I need a barbecue!’
The star was released from the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles on Monday after receiving treatment for 10 days.
Dr. Peter Grossman said Eastern Time on Leno’s recovery: ‘He has a very strong attitude. He is a very strong individual.

“And he’s a person who’s really looking to move on, to try to find a way to get past this episode in his life and get back to what he normally likes to do, which is to be out there and entertain and be with people. I think that sometime he’ll be here soon, but I had to tell him that for now, he needs to sit down and take care of Jay.
Leno said a quick-thinking friend saved his life after a gasoline fire broke out in his ritzy Los Angeles garage on Saturday, as the king of the night faces the possibility of needing skin grafts.
The 72-year-old former Tonight Show host was at his Los Angeles mansion when one of the vehicles “burst into flames without warning,” and sources told TMZ that the left side of his face was burned.
In a statement, Leno said: “I have some bad burns from a gasoline fire. I’m fine. I just need a week or two to recover.
He later told TMZ that it was his friend, Dave, who saved his life by jumping on him and dousing the flames.
The host said he was fixing a clogged fuel line when he sprayed gasoline on his hands and face.
Leno was taken to the burn room. at the Grossman Burn Center according to TMZ, with his eye and ear unaffected by the fire. On Monday, page six reported that Leno might need skin grafts as a result of the burns.

George Swift, a mechanic in the comedian’s personal garage, said Eastern Time that it was a steam car that sent Leno to the hospital.
It was a steam car. This vapor was made by gas. They sprayed it like a gas,” said Swift, a mechanic who works at the garage.
“He called me and told me there was a fire and the fire department was coming,” the employee continued.
In a separate interview with Access Hollywood, Swift said that Leno is “going to be fine.” And she added: ‘It’s nothing life-threatening. He’s in a great mood, but you know, it’s going to take a while.
The Burbank Fire Department also spoke to ET and confirmed that they were dispatched to Leno’s luxury garage around 12:30 p.m. Saturday for reports of a fire.
Upon arrival on scene in the 3100 block of North Damon Way, ‘an adult male’ was assessed and treated.
Leno was transported to a local emergency room and then taken to the Grossman Burn Center for further care.
A spokesman for the medical center said People: “Jay wants everyone to know that he is in stable condition and receiving treatment … for the burns he received on his face and hands from a gasoline accident in his garage over the weekend.”
She continued: ‘He is in a good mood and touched by all the questions about his condition and well wishes. [He] he wants everyone to know that he’s doing well and that he’s at “the best burn center in America.”
The Burbank Police Department told DailyMail.com they were not called to the scene of the fire.

Leno had previously shared details about his extensive collection of Barrons.comsharing more details about how he acquired the old-school car lot.
The steam carriages, which he said are “reliable and dependable,” require a boiler to heat water into steam which is then used to drive a piston that turns the vehicle’s wheels.
In 2021, the ‘Tonight Show’ veteran was pulled over in his 1906 Stanley Steamer for speeding on Interstate 405 in California.
Leno’s steam collection includes “cars, stationary engines, and even a massive Advance steam tractor,” according to the 2021 story published by Barrons.
After the incident inside his garage on Saturday, he canceled a Las Vegas performance scheduled for the following day after event organizers revealed that he suffered a “serious medical emergency.”
An email to The Financial Brand Forum 2022 attendees and obtained by People read: ‘Her family couldn’t provide us with many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency preventing Jay from traveling.
“All we know is that he is alive, so our prayers are with him and his family tonight.” Leno is understood to have called off his engagement for the week as a precaution, after being rushed to the hospital.

It’s not the first time the star has put himself at risk with his beloved vehicles, as he was visibly shaken after being in a car accident while filming the CNBC show in 2016 with legendary stuntman Bob Riggle.
Both ended up face down after Riggle lost control and the car flipped over, though neither was injured.
In 2019, he opened up about his battle with high cholesterol after being shown a scan of a blockage in his heart.
Working in collaboration with Cholesterol 911, he urged others to review their lifestyles.
He said; “We really want people to see the connection, because a lot of people don’t realize high cholesterol, and if you’ve had a heart attack or stroke, you’re increasing your risk of having another.
“It’s like an earthquake, it may not destroy the house, but it certainly weakens the structure.”
The former Tonight Show host missed an appearance at a financial conference, with an email to attendees of The Financial Brand Forum 2022 and obtained by People confirming the star has health issues.

“Hopefully it will appeal to like-minded people, which is probably the majority of the population, who would like to do more, but not if it sounds a bit annoying.
‘But this isn’t a pain, it’s really simple. You go to the doctor, it’s a quick visit, he can tell you what to do.
Joe Biden joined the star in an episode of his show in October, featuring the thrill-seeking president pushing his beloved Corvette to over 100 mph while racing.
Biden and Leno reunited this summer and drove their 1967 Corvette Stingray through the James J. Rowley Secret Service Training Facility in Beltsville, Maryland.
The president whizzed by at jaw-dropping speeds of 118 mph on camera, while admitting he missed being able to drive while living in the White House.
Biden also appeared on Leno’s car-focused TV show while he was vice president, in October 2016.
The president, who frequently speaks of his love of cars, competed with Colin Powell in that episode, before dying last October at age 84.
In 2016, Powell lost the race to Biden, and Michael, 59, said he intended to avenge his father, saying he would “settle the score.”
Michael was driving a 2015 Corvette with a 455 horsepower V8 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission, worth $55,000.
Biden was racing him in his $150,000 1967 Stingray, with 350 horsepower and a four-speed manual gearbox.
The star is pictured with his wife Mavis in 2013 and boasts an impressive car collection of over 180 vehicles.
