Biden thinks he’s the only Democrat candidate who can ‘slay’ Donald Trump

Joe Biden sees himself as the only Democrat who can “beat” Donald Trump in the 2024 election, it is claimed.

The 80-year-old president regularly reminds people that he is the only person to beat Trump, and he remains convinced that he is the man who will repeat that feat in 2024. The New York Times reported.

Biden previously called himself a one-term transitional president who would bridge the gap between the chaos of the Trump years and the emergence of a younger Democratic successor.

But he has since announced a plan to run again in 2024, despite already being the oldest president in US history.

“Why would he get out now?” told presidential historian Douglas Brinkley Politics from Biden. “He has no clear successor and what matters here is Trump. Joe Biden is seen as the killer of Donald Trump and many Democrats think he can do it again.”

“He was not my first or second choice for president, but I am a convert,” Rep. Pramila Jayapal, head of the Progressive Caucus, said of the president. “I never thought I’d say this, but I think he should run for another term and finish this agenda that we’ve put together.”

Unlike the GOP, which has a wealth of potential 2024 candidates, both MAGA and centrists, Biden has no clear successor. His Vice President Kamala Harris is doing poorly in the polls, with many center Democrats averse to the party’s far-left turn on social issues.

Trump announced last week that he will run for president again despite a poor midterms showing for MAGA candidates he supported.

He will likely face stiff competition from GOP golden boy Ron DeSantis, who comfortably won re-election as Florida governor earlier this month.

DeSantis is widely seen as pushing Trump’s popular policies, but without the ex-president’s divisive persona that repelled petty conservatives and centrist swing voters.

Biden has said his “intention” is to run again.

He, first lady Jill Biden and their children Hunter and Ashley are spending Thanksgiving together on Nantucket, where one of the talking points will be whether or not Biden should run for the White House again.

“I hope Jill and I get some time to really slip away for a week — between Christmas and Thanksgiving,” he said of conversations the family is having earlier this year.

“And I suspect we’ll make that judgment early next year,” he added.

Meanwhile, several Democrats told CNN that they are more convinced than ever that Biden is their best bet to beat Trump, who announced last week that he is running for president again.

The Democrats did better than expected in the midterm elections. They held on to the Senate and the Republicans barely won a majority in the House instead of getting a red seat wave as predicted.

“This win belongs to Joe Biden,” Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren said on NBC’s Meet the Press after that election.

Biden, whose approval rating averages around 40, has been criticized for high inflation that has increased the cost of living. But he is led to blame the COVID pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Gas prices are starting to fall and inflation is starting to ease – although many economists are concerned that the country could slide into recession next year.

But Democrats said they believe they misjudged Biden’s appeal to voters.
