The sudden death of a young father of two, a beloved football coach and teacher, has sparked an outpouring of support from his shocked local community.

Mitch Cade Williams, 34, died after collapsing at his home in Greenvale, in the far north of Melbourne, on Saturday.

He leaves behind his wife and partner of 12 years Casey Williams and their two daughters, three-year-old Lila and one-year-old Zoe.

“When I read all these posts, as heartbreaking as it is, it shows how much he meant to people,” said Ms Williams. The Herald Sun

“He was the most amazing man, he had a unique personality and his laughter could be heard for miles.”

She said that he “definitely lived” for his two girls and always did everything for his friends, parents and his students.

Cal Glassford said his buddy had a unique sense of humor and caring nature, which gave him “more friends than anyone we know.”

‘Mitch was one of the greats, he was always the first person I wanted to call when I had to laugh or even cry. Life will never be the same again.’

Mr Williams’ cause of death has not been established and will be investigated by the coroner.

He graduated from Essendon Grammar in 2005 and joined the PEGS (Penleigh and Essendon Grammar) Football Club in 2006 where he played until 2009.

He then returned as a senior assistant coach in 2017, helping the club win its first premiership in 20 years.

Mitchy had the unique ability to fill a room with love and laughter whenever he was there,” the club wrote on Facebook.

“To his best friends, Mitch was never afraid to show his emotions and we couldn’t have asked for a more caring and loyal friend.”

“One side of Mitch that not everyone would be equally familiar with was his professional career. He currently worked at one of Melbourne’s most elite private schools, Haileybury, holding the positions of PE teacher in Haileybury City and Deputy Head of Boys Middle School.’

Friends said Mr Williams (left) loved football almost as much as his family and friends

A fundraiser has been launched to help Mr Williams’ young family (pictured)

Many members of the club said they would miss his statements like ‘how good is footy’ and ‘it’s good to see good people’.

“He was committed, positive and inspiring to his students and those he worked with,” the club said.

Many of those students paid tribute to him online, with one saying he had the ability to make everyone laugh.

Friends have a My Cause fundraiser to help support his family with hundreds of people showing their support in just a few days.

In mid-July there is a funeral and a wake.
