A Russian beauty queen whose marriage to the former Malaysian king collapsed weeks after she gave birth is launching a legal battle against her ex-husband to get a raise in a “paltry” £1,200 monthly child support payment.
Oksana Voevodina, 30, from London, has been in contact with a team of British lawyers in an attempt to resolve a bitter long-running dispute over the future of her three-year-old son.
Voevodina’s lawyers argued that the monthly amount was not enough considering that her ex-husband, Sultan Muhammed V, was “extremely wealthy”.
They said at a hearing at the Royal Courts of Justice in London today that the 53-year-old former monarch had provided the £1,200 monthly maintenance.

His lawyer, Nicholas Wilkinson, told the court the issue concerned the “wealthy former King of Malaysia seeking to suggest $1,500 [£1,200] one month is enough to support his ex-wife and son.’
He told the court that the former king, who abdicated in 2020 after a backlash against his marriage, had failed to comply with an earlier court order as part of his ex-wife’s claim when asked to disclose his assets. And Mr. Wilkinson described the current support amount, which will be paid until the child turns 18, as “paltry.”
The former Miss Moscow was also awarded a lump sum payment of £12,000 after her divorce following a marriage that ended in 2019, after just one year.

Voevodina, who has also worked in investments and returned to her old modeling career, arrived at the courthouse flanked by her three lawyers.
The 30-year-old man was dressed in a black satin suit, stilettos and a Prada bag.
She did not speak before Ms. Justice Leiven of the High Court Family Division, but wrote sticky notes throughout the day of the hearing.

Michael Horton, KC, for the former King, had attempted to challenge Oskana’s eligibility to seek a High Court ruling, as he had only resided here for a year.
