A pair of young hooligans on a beach joyride narrowly escaped a hefty towing fee or fine after their nighttime jaunt took a turn for the worse when their ute got stuck in the sand.
The two young men were photographed trying to dig their LDV wagon out of the sand on Bilgola Beach, on Sydney’s northern beaches, on Monday morning.
The driver appeared to have a provisional driver’s license with his P-plate still attached to the front number plate of the ute as they desperately tried to dig themselves out of the soft sand.
“Two young fools decided to joyride Bilgola Beach overnight. They are still here and will be for a while,” the poster on the Newport Community’s Facebook page wrote.
The local who posted the photos told Daily Mail Australia that his “wife first saw them trapped around 6am.”

Photos posted to the Newport Community Facebook page show the boys frantically digging to get their car out of the sand before a team of local residents helped the boys escape
“I’m not sure if they were locals and not sure if they had been there most of the night digging themselves out or if it was an early joyride that went wrong,” he said.
“They were finally able to escape around 9:15 am with the help of some people who came to their aid.
“They were very lucky because the council lifeguards were about to start their shift and I imagine if they hadn’t got out when they did the council and police would have been involved and had heavy penalties issued’.
A man in high visibility was photographed walking over to the couple to lend a helping hand.
An employee of a nearby cafe, Zuni at Billy’s, said they saw a tow truck drive to the beach, but the car was already freed.
If your car needs to be towed in NSW, the towing company will immediately send a bill for $215 in the mail.
Local members of the Facebook page took to the comment section on the post to drag the couple.

“What kind of idiot would drive his car onto a beach and get stuck?” a user responded.
“Young fools run free,” wrote another.
“Should have worn their max tracks,” a third commented.
“They’re lucky it’s not a king tide,” a fourth added.
A spokesperson for NSW Police said no complaint had been made to them about the stranded car.
