Neglected dogs taken to Washington County adoption center<!-- wp:html --><div></div> <p>SALEM, NY (NEWS10) — Washington County’s Lucky Puppy Dog Rescue welcomed 16 surrendered dogs, after responding to a request for help from a Salem shelter involving more than 20 neglected dogs and puppies. They further confirmed that a third dog had died and discovered that there was also a young litter of puppies in the home.</p> <p>“I called for days and was stunned to learn this situation had been going on for years,” said Emily DiSiena, a Lucky Puppy volunteer who played a “significant” role in organizing the event. “I’m grateful to Shannon Celeste, (Municipality of Fort Ann’s DCO), who volunteered to help us. This was beyond her jurisdiction, but she came to help anyway. All dogs have been taken to Lucky Puppy’s Great Beginnings Adoption Center, are being monitored and receiving medical care. They are also scheduled for upcoming sterilization procedures.</p> <p>16 is the maximum number that Lucky Puppy can safely house in their facility at this time. Lucky Puppy says there are still 5-7 male unrestrained dogs at the home, but other local rescue services are asking for help in caring for the surrendered dogs and finding homes for the rest.</p><!-- /wp:html -->
