Race 13 – 2:20 PM DUNDEL AT ARROWFIELD HANDICAP (1000 METERS)
2. Flying trapeze comes right back in class and ends up in a race that seems to be right for him to give his best. Not disgraced in the Golden Gift, finishing last in midfield and sounding in an easy test win ever since. Hard to beat.
Dangers: 7. Simply glamorous is a $900,000 daughter of former top filly Global Glamor who has proven herself as a horse with some scope. Whether she has the speed to cross remains to be seen, but keep her very safe. 5. Royal Entrance is a Snitzel foal that sold for $425,000 and is a stablemate of Just Glamourous. Seems to have improved with each trial and has the advantage of barrier one. Expect it to run well. 3. He’s totally in style from the Snowden stable is another one who debuts with a few tests to his name. Both have been fine, in the top yard and no surprise when he shows up.
How to play it: Flying Trapeze WIN; Trifecta 2/3,5,7/3,5,7. Opportunities & Evens: SPLIT.
Race 2 – 14:55 RANVET PLATE (1300 METERS)
8. Step aside is a low-priced favorite on his debut based on two fairly soft trial wins in the last month. Seemed to be in control a bit in the final at Rosehill and finds James McDonald to ride as he did in the first trial. If there’s more in the safe, it can take a beating.
Dangers: 4. Ocean Honor is also on debut for the Waller stable and he didn’t lose a single admirer going step by step with Step Aside in the final trial, a neck beaten. Has the soft appeal and wouldn’t be surprised if he was very competitive with his stablemate. 6. Romeo’s choice made some nifty efforts to pick up the pace for placements at Hawkesbury last month and over 1100 yards here two weeks ago. Claims in every direction. 1. Bo Bo Beware started big chances at his only appearance at Kensington in June and worked his way home to third past the fence. Close up in the final stage and the 1300m fresh should pass. Has a performance.
How to play it: Step aside WIN; Trifecta 8/1,4,6/1,4,6. Opportunities & Evens: DATA.
Race 3 – 3:30 PM HYLAND RACE COLOR HANDICAP (1100 METERS)
4. Fielding must be fitter for a narrow first defeat here three weeks ago and form has since been reaffirmed by the winner. Lost 2kg and should get the last shot at them from the pace. Well done.
Hazards: 2. Hardware Lane won three of the last seven overall on tough circuits and he recently showed his readiness with an easy Albury stage win. He is a newcomer who will be well liked with JMac taking the ride and if he can convert his form into a good job he will be right in the finish line. 1. Sneaky Shark started a solid favorite on his local debut in January and got the job done at Canterbury. The first trial was great fun, not overly enthusiastic in the second, but it can be dangerous to stop based on a trial. Drawn to be prominent and must be respected. 3. Cotton fingers first to win the final 1250m preparation on a tough track and then ran well before failing at Randwick in August. Since then gelded and he could jump out of the ground.
How to play it: Handling profit. Opportunities & Evens: DATA.
Race 4 – 4:05 PM EXCEEDANCE’S FIRST ANNUAL HANDICAP (2200 METERS)
6. Villaden maybe getting a few favors in a wide open race. Came back from a failure as favorite at Rosehill with a solid second at Kensington over 1800m. Brakes to get a soft run and be entitled to somewhere in the finish.
Dangers: 1. Socrates is a brave pacesetter who fights hard to finish third in Canterbury over 1900 meters in the last time out. Previously placed in the Taree Cup and back in class here. Big weight but sure to give a good account. 9. Do it right Legend getting fitter for three runs back from a spell and while the runner up in a small field at Gosford the third is likely looking for the extra ground. Opportunity in both directions. 2. Lord Desanimaux occasionally jumps up and is always one to throw in the multiples. He worked his way home from last without threatening his last start, comes back a notch and is in the mix as usual.
How to play it: Villaden E/W. Opportunities & Evens: SPLIT.
