OAKLAND — A motorcyclist died Thursday after a solo collision at an intersection in East Oakland, authorities said.

In statements, police said officers responded to a collision report just before 1:35 p.m. on High Street and MacArthur Boulevard on the edge of the city’s Laurel district.

When officers arrived, they found a man in his 30s seriously injured after being shot from the car after his motorcycle crashed into a pole.

Paramedics and firefighters from the Oakland Fire Department also arrived to provide care, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s identity was not known, pending notification of the next of kin by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s office.
