A woman has died after a collision with a police car that was chasing a suspected stolen vehicle.
The collision took place in Shaw Road, Oldham, in Greater Manchester on Friday morning.
Police gave chase to a suspected stolen vehicle at 10 a.m., with officers beginning a ‘short chase’.
But a short time later, a police vehicle crashed, seriously injuring a 53-year-old woman.

The police chase took place at 10 a.m., when officers chased a suspected stolen vehicle. But shortly after, the woman was hit and seriously injured
She was taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries, but died a short time later.
Chris Bowen, Superintendent of GMP’s Oldham district said; Our sincere thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of the woman who sadly passed away.
“We understand that the public is concerned about these types of incidents. In accordance with normal procedure, references have been made to GMP’s Professional Standards Branch and the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
“Investigations of this kind often result in road closures that can cause significant disruption and we thank the local community and road users for their patience.”
