Thousands of revelers flood Times Square, where a packed crowd is tipped to celebrate New Year’s Eve without restrictions after two years of pandemic-muted celebrations.
People from all over the world have come to party and watch the iconic ball fall, with many donning all their best New Year’s attire, including glittering hats, 2023 sunglasses and waterproof ponchos – as rain and fog cover the city.
Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment have hosted New Year’s Eve in Times Square and are expected to release 3,000 pounds of confetti when the ball drops at midnight.
The stage is set and the crowd is already beginning to gather at the iconic downtown Manhattan venue for one of the biggest parties in the world.

As for security, there will be thousands of uniformed officers in Times Square. The police will also be present in the neighborhoods and subways to ensure that everyone can enjoy the festivities safely.
The pandemic will not affect New Year’s celebrations this year. But toilets will not be available and revelers will have to line up in Times Square despite the long wait and rain. Bags, chairs and umbrellas are not allowed.
The highly anticipated festivities will be broadcast to television and internet audiences and will include an immersive virtual experience from One Times Square – home of the iconic New Year’s Eve Ball Drop Celebration.

In addition to the musical performances, actor and TV personality Jonathan Bennett will return to the celebration as Times Square New Year’s Eve Host.
Bennett will be joined by Jeremy Hassell, who has been part of Times Square’s New Year’s Eve celebration since 2016.
