A Domino’s Pizza branch is closed after inspectors found live cockroaches on the wall.
Willoughby Council was called in to inspect the Domino’s store in Chatswood, northern Sydney, after a customer complained that they had found a cockroach baked into a pizza.
Photos taken during the inspection showed a live cockroach crawling on a wall, another live cockroach and egg shells on the floor, and newly hatched cockroaches in a safety net.
Inspectors also found dirty food preparation areas, grime in food equipment and sticky computer keyboards, as well as unclean surfaces, food scraps in a rolling pin and dirty containers.
The store was fined $1760 after the March 24 inspection and has since been closed by Domino’s headquarters.

Willoughby Council said the branch had received previous warnings for failing to ensure fixtures, fittings and/or equipment were clean during two inspections last May.
In a statement, Domino’s said it agreed with the council’s report and would take full possession of it.

A Willoughby Council spokesperson warned other businesses to ensure they meet health and safety guidelines.
