Subway has opened its second corporate headquarters in Miami.
Around 150 staff work from the new space, including some in marketing and culinary roles.
The office features a mock restaurant where staff can experiment on new sandwiches and products.

News of the opening had been circling since at least 2020, and marks Subway’s transformation into a dual-headquartered business. The sandwich chain announced the relocation in 2021, but had up until now shared few details.

“Modeled to resemble a real Subway restaurant, the Mock Restaurant provides a dedicated space to test products in a real-life setting, enabling the brand to refine its operations and explore new possibilities for its guest experience,” the company said.

Insider previously reported that some marketing and culinary roles were moving to the new HQ. It’s unclear when exactly the new office opened. Subway said last June that some roles had already moved to Miami and that the office was set to be complete that fall.

People have flocked to the Sunshine State for its lack of personal income tax, sunny climate, and policies seen as pro-business.
“From its flourishing business climate to its rich cultural heritage, Miami is an ideal location for our business to continue to evolve,” Subway CEO John Chidsey said in a statement.

The chain is currently in the midst of a huge revamp, which included an overhaul of its menu in 2021. Insider previously reported that Chidsey had also laid off hundreds of employees and closed stores.
