EL PASO, Texas – El Paso police are investigating a home invasion and a shooting that occurred in El Paso.
Police say Bruce Wayne Murphy, a 29-year-old resident of northeast El Paso, broke into a home on Howard Street around 8:56 a.m. on Thursday, where three individuals and a dog were present. Murphy allegedly fired a weapon inside the house, resulting in injury to the dog.
In response, Sean Patrick Suniga, a 37-year-old resident of the home, retrieved his own handgun and returned fire at Murphy.
Shortly after, Murphy was discovered at the intersection of Gateway South and Broaddus Ave. on Wednesday at approximately 10 a.m., shouting for help. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and will be charged with burglary of habitation upon release.
The dog’s condition was unknown.
