NNA – MP Ghassan Hasbani said on Wednesday that Amal Movement and Hezbollah’s nomination of Marada Movement Leader Sleiman Frangieh for the presidency of the republic shall stir the stagnant presidential file, but that this nomination does not necessarily mean a major progress has been made since the Shia duo’s candidate cannot obtain the majority of votes.
Speaking to Voice of All Lebanon radio station, the “Strong Republic” bloc lawmaker said he was not surprised by the duo’s announced support for Frangieh.
However, Hasbani saw that linking the call for a president election session to the readiness of the said duo is dangerous as it makes the parliament a tool in the hands of a political team.
He also said that there is no communication between the Lebanese Forces and the Free Patriotic Movement regarding the obstruction of the presidential vote.
