<p>For years, Fox News has <a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/fox-news-violent-crime-coverage-plummets-after-midterms">pushed the narrative</a> that the United States is undergoing <a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/nypd-cop-tells-fox-news-we-need-dem-lawmakers-to-be-gun-violence-victims">a cataclysmic crime wave</a> driven by drugs and young punks with guns who rob unsuspecting small businesses and get off easy because of <a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/fox-news-hosts-get-real-awkward-when-newt-gingrich-tries-to-do-a-soros-dog-whistle">soft-hearted judges</a>.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/fox-news-pushing-brain-room-to-lend-credibility-to-trumps-voter-fraud-paranoia-insiders-say">Tom Lowell</a>, a longtime Fox News Channel producer who now runs the law-and-order-obsessed newsroom, took part in a 1986 liquor store burglary in South Florida that ended in a drug bust. And he got a slap on the wrist, despite cops saying the “burglary was extensive.”</p>
