NNA – Japan decided to allocate a USD 2 million emergency grant to Lebanon through the World Food Program (WFP), in response to the deterioration of the food security situation across the country, which has been exacerbated by the Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the Japanese Embassy indicated in a statement on Thursday.

This aid will support WFP’s efforts to help 300,000 vulnerable people in Lebanon through monthly in-kind food parcels to help them meet their nutrition needs during a period of six months and mitigate the impact that the socio-economic crisis had on their livelihoods. Through this initiative, Japan renews its commitment to continue to stand by Lebanon and its people amid the unprecedented challenges that the country is facing.
