NNA – The Embassy of Romania in Beirut on Friday shared the following statement marking the inauguration of Bucharest Street on 21 March 2023:
“On the occasion of the inauguration of Bucharest Street on 21 March 2023, the Embassy of Romania to the Lebanese Republic warmly thanks the distinguished representatives of Beirut, Mayor Jamal Itani, the Beirut City Council members, Governor Marwan Abboud and expresses its gratitude for the gesture of friendship they have made towards Romania, by awarding the name Bucharest to a street in Downtown Beirut. It is a beautiful response sent today to Romania’s capital, where Beirut Street and Khalil Gibran Park are already testimonies of the importance we give to the traditional, very good relations between our countries.
Beirut and Bucharest share aspirations towards progress and modernity, while cultivating the urban heritage, charm and atmosphere of the Romanian Little Paris and Paris of the Middle East of former times.”
