NNA – Sinmun Rodong newspaper reported that nearly 800,000 North Korean citizens applied within 24 hours for voluntary conscription, to fight the United States, which continues to infringe on their country’s sovereignty, according to “Russia Today”.
The newspaper pointed out that these soldiers volunteer as evidence of their national affiliation, and their desire to “root out American imperialism from their country and its traitorous agents” and unify the Korean Peninsula.
The newspaper indicated that the number of volunteers wishing to join the army or return to military service is increasing daily, noting that men are required to serve in the military for 10 years, compared to 3 years for women.
The newspaper added that Washington does not stop its attempts to infringe on Pyongyang’s sovereignty and security interests, and that the American plots have reached the point where it is trying to provoke a nuclear war.
