The newly promoted Fulham have made the move to sign Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet.
The Craven Cottage club missed a deal for Italian international Federico Bernadeschi last week when he chose to move to Toronto instead and have now gone back to Cornet, who was on their radar at the start of the window.
Burnley turned down a loan offer from Everton this weekend, with the Championship side wanting the 25-year-old’s £17.5m buyout clause.

Fulham boss Marco Silva wants to add reinforcements before the start of the season
Everton is still in the picture as the player turned down the idea of a move to Nottingham Forest.
The Toffees’ football director Kevin Thelwell had skipped the club’s US tour to speed up transfer activity and Cornet was not in the squad for Burnley’s friendly against Shrewsbury on Thursday.
But Burnley turned down Everton’s opening offer, allowing Marco Silva’s newly promoted side to make an offer for the former Lyon winger.
Frank Lampard is a great admirer of the Ivory Coast international and wants more bodies to avoid a repeat of last season’s relegation battle.
Cornet has scored nine goals in 28 appearances for Burnley since moving from Lyon last summer
Fulham made an offer to Bernadeschi last week, but it is clear that it has fallen due to the proposed salary cuts if Fulham are relegated.
Cornet can also play as a fullback and that’s a role both Marco Silva and Everton boss Frank Lampard will look to exploit when they sign the Ivory Coast international.
The 25-year-old has scored nine goals in 28 appearances for Burnley since coming from Lyon last summer for just £13million and would be happy to leave Turf Moor following Burnley’s relegation.
