Monaco have made a £15m bid for Boubakary Soumare, with Leicester looking to get back more of the £23million they spent on the out-of-favour midfielder.
Soumare only joined Leicester last summer, but – if Sports post reported in May – boss Brendan Rodgers is willing to let him leave to generate money to refresh his team. Leicester are the only Premier League club to have signed a contract this summer.
Soumare shone as Lille won the Ligue 1 title in 2020/21, but the midfielder struggled to adjust to life in England, having made just 18 appearances in the past season.

However, his stock remains high in France, where Monaco are looking to make him the replacement for Aurelien Tchouameni, who previously joined Real Madrid in the £68million window.
Along with Soumare, there are a number of fringe players available at Leicester this summer, but the Foxes have yet to move them.
Jannik Vestergaard – another one of last summer’s acquisitions – is on that list, along with Ayoze Perez, Hamza Choudhury and Caglar Soyuncu.

Rodgers has previously indicated that he wants to bring in five or six players this summer
Rodgers said in the spring that he was looking for five or six new players. Asked about Leicester’s affairs last weekend, he said: “I want to improve the squad, I want to develop the squad, I said that halfway through last year, but when it’s hard financially I really respect the club, so that I will not. go to war with them.
‘It’s unfortunate. We need to do some work and if we can do that hopefully we can influence the squad because if we want to compete anywhere close to where we’ve been then we should be able to do that. If not, then it’s a different expectation.’
Meanwhile, captain Kasper Schmeichel is back in training this week. The Dane was allowed to miss the club’s training camp in France after playing for Denmark in the Nations League in June.
