The popular TikTok video appears to have helped lead to a relatively obscure 2019 movie, I See You, topping the Netflix charts.
Last week, a TikTok content creator was named TheWeekendWatch She alerted her viewers to the movie, which came to the Netflix streaming service last week.
The streaming service’s Top 10 Charts for the week of March 20-26 was released on Wednesday, revealing that I See You had made its first chart entry at No. 3.
However, in the past few days, I See You has been the No. 1 movie on the massive streaming service.
The news didn’t go unnoticed by the film’s star, Helen Hunt — who was spotted with boyfriend Jeffrey Nordling this month — who took to Instagram on Friday to share a screenshot of the Netflix reveal that I See You was actually #1.

She also shared two Netflix screenshots revealing that the movie was the number one movie on the Netflix charts, along with a poster featuring her, Tenney and Lewis.
The film follows a doctor (Hunt) and her cop husband (Tiny) who are going through marital problems.
Meanwhile, the pair take on the case of a missing boy which is eerily similar to another from many years earlier.
The film debuted at the SXSW Film Festival in March 2019 to strong reviews (77% on Rotten Tomatoes) and was picked up by Saban Films for distribution.
It was released theatrically in December 2019, but it only took in $1.2 million worldwide and has drifted into relative obscurity.
After the movie was released on the Netflix streaming service earlier this month, it caught the attention of TheWeekendWatch, which asked its 139k followers to check it out.
“If you open Netflix today and see this, press play, and trust me, you’re going to want to watch this,” she said, pointing to the movie’s poster.

While TheWeekendWatch’s videos usually have between 5k and 400k views, her I See You video has 12.6m views with nearly 19k comments.
I See You collected 10.8 million hours in its first week of release on Netflix, behind The Magician’s Elephant (16.7 million watched hours) and Luther: The Fallen Sun (24.7 million hours watched) on the Netflix English-language movie chart.
It more than doubled the first week’s viewership for the Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston sequel, Murder Mystery 2, which debuted at number six with 4.49 million viewership.
Hunt went on to return as Jamie Buchman in the revival of her hit ’90s sitcom Mad About You in 2019.
Recently, she has starred in films such as The Night Clerk, How It Ends, and the podcast series Solar.
The actress will also return as Rainey in the second season of the critically acclaimed series Blindspotting, which will debut Friday, April 14.
