Antonio Conte’s former Juventus and Italy teammate Christian Vieri has been scouting for the recently dismissed Tottenham boss due to his “intense” and “demanding” personality.

Conte was relieved of his duties as Tottenham manager on Sunday night after he launched his infamous verbal attack on his players after the 3-3 draw with Southampton.

Following this news, Vieri told the press in Italy that he was not surprised that his former team-mate had left Tottenham and claimed that the Italian coach was “used to clashing with everyone”.

“Antonio is used to clashing with everyone, it’s his personality,” Vieri told Italian media. Corriere della Sera Tuesday.

He continued, “If a club hires him, they shouldn’t expect someone who is happy with everything.” He’s always on edge, it’s his way of being, like it or not.

Christian Vieri and Conte played together for the Italian national team over the course of seven years

You know what you’re going to get. Every two years he fights with everyone? Yes. Does he always leave with problems? Yes. You know that he is demanding and serious.

He added: There are coaches like Conte and Mourinho who knock at all times, pile on pressure and always demand the best. Then there are those who are not satisfied with everything, and they stay where they are.

“Everyone coaches and sees football in his own way, and this does not mean that one coach is right and the other is wrong.”

The two former Italy internationals played together for Juventus during the 1996-97 season as well as for the national team between 1997 and 2004.

The 53-year-old has been let go as Tottenham boss after less than 18 months in charge.

Having managed to secure fourth place in his first season at the club, the Italian has struggled to get the best out of the Tottenham squad this season.

At the time of his departure, Tottenham were holding onto their position in the top four of the Premier League, were knocked out of the FA Cup in humiliating fashion by Sheffield United and knocked out of the Champions League in the round of 16 by A.C. Milan.

Conte will be replaced by his former assistant Christian Stellini, who will be assisted by Ryan Mason on a caretaker basis until the end of the season.
