Alec Baldwin has been slammed on social media after retweeting a message about gun control – after the fatal shooting on the set of the movie Rust.
The actor, who has been charged following the death of Helena Hutchins, posted on social media after the mass shooting at Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, in which six people lost their lives.
The post, written by rocker Peter Frampton on Twitter, read: ’26 years ago, a gunman entered Dunblane Primary School in Scotland, killing 16 children and a teacher. The British government responded by enacting strict gun control legislation.
“In the more than 9,400 days since then, there have been a total of 0 school shootings in the UK.”

Baldwin posted this tweet to his Instagram — but the comments quickly called him out
Baldwin retweeted it on his Instagram without commenting — but the post received criticism given the actor’s spin-off of cinematography Halena Hutchins in October 2021.
Someone wrote: “kettle, pot” – a phrase used to denote hypocrisy.
Another said: ‘It’s a psychological problem, not a weapon problem! If Alec had any firearms training, that poor mother/wife would be alive today! “
A third added, “You have shot and killed someone with a prop gun you mishandled, daring to stand up for an American’s right to protect himself.”
Another said: Didn’t you kill anyone? While a fifth commenter said, “Maybe this should be sat outside.”
Shortly after the photo was posted, Baldwin’s comments were limited.
It comes after Santa View District Attorney Alec Baldwin was charged with manslaughter for accidentally shooting Halena Hutchins, after he resigned from the case after a series of setbacks.
Senior District Attorney Mary Carmack Altoys announced today that she will be replaced by two district attorneys, Carey Morrissey and Jason Lewis.

In a statement, she said she had chosen to step down in order to focus on other issues in the state.
With the announcement, Carmack-Altweis is now the second prosecutor to step down from the case after special prosecutor Andrea Repp stepped down earlier in the year.
Baldwin’s team complained about the fact that she was acting both as the attorney general in his case and the state’s representative.
Carmack-Altwis fervently charged Baldwin in January, more than a year after the fatal shooting.
She has spoken proudly in interviews about bringing the actor to the same standards as everyone else.
In addition to the involuntary manslaughter charge, Baldwin was charged with aggravating a firearm.
This charge could have resulted in him being imprisoned for up to five years if he had been convicted.
But he wasn’t introduced to the law until May 2022 — six months after Baldwin accidentally shot and killed Hutchins on set. A judge rejected it.
