What’s the latest news on the cost of living crisis in Australia?

By Stephen Johnson, Economics Correspondent for the Daily Mail in Australia

The cost of living crisis has deepened in Australia as inflation reached a 32-year high of 7.8 per cent.

The consumer price index rose in the year through December at the fastest annual pace since the March 1990 quarter, with Treasurer Jim Chalmers calling it “unacceptably high”.

This means that another rate hike on February 7 is almost certain with the headline inflation rate well above the Reserve Bank’s target of 2 to 3 percent.

In an effort to curb inflation, the cost of groceries, mortgage rates, and gasoline have skyrocketed over the past seven months

A Mondelez spokesperson said 7 Life: “Because of the high costs that many manufacturers face, we made the difficult decision to adjust the recommended size of our original RITZ peppers and cracked peppers.”

This ensures that we can continue to deliver the high quality crackers that our fans know and love.

“We know this will disappoint some, however, we are committed to providing Australians with the same high quality, great tasting RITZ Crackers.”
