GOP White House nominee Nikki Haley claims the border crisis is only Biden’s fault

During a trip along the southern Texas border, Nikki Haley insisted that Joe Biden was the only person responsible for the immigration crisis — and said she gave up on Vice President Kamala Harris’ visit to the border.

The Republican presidential candidate and former ambassador told DailyMail.com on Monday that it is up to Biden to fire Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorcas and replace him with someone who can do the job more effectively.

Haley was joined on her five-stop trip on the southern border by Rep. Tony Gonzalez (R-Texas), who represents the greater San Antonio area that shares a border with Mexico. He extended an open invitation to all presidential candidates for a tour of the region.

“We have one president, and his job is to keep Americans safe,” Haley told DailyMail.com on the final leg of her trip in Eagle Pass, Texas. “All we know is that he refuses to look at the border situation because he hopes it will go away.”

Haley stopped in Texas several times, including in Del Rio and Eagle Pass, where she met Border Patrol agents, National Guard soldiers, ranchers, and residents who live in fear daily.

She also went to a shoe factory on the US side of the border where many legal immigrants work.

Now, she says, it’s time for Biden to see the “real” border towns after finally making his first trip to the border, but without erasing some of the realities the communities are facing from the crisis.

“You look at these families, the first thing they said is, ‘People shouldn’t just expect us to live like this,’” Hayley said.

VP Harris has been appointed as a “frontier czar” by Biden, but has been repeatedly criticized for failing to act as such in the role.

However, the administration said its job has always been to address the root problem that has led to migration in the Northern Triangle countries of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador — not to fix the crisis when it comes to borders.

Haley detailed her plan to tackle the crisis during a news conference at her last stop of the day against the backdrop of barbed wire and shipping containers blocking the crossing of the Rio Grande.

The Republican presidential nominee reiterated her policies regarding the proposed limits, including making E-Verify mandatory so that all US companies can ensure their employees have valid citizenship to work in America. Other cornerstones of its proposed policies are ending “catch and release” and designating drug cartels as terrorist organizations.

She said current policies at the federal level prove that the Biden administration is “incompetent, irresponsible, and puts the American people at risk.”
