For the first time, the hidden hidden passages of Sydney’s abandoned train tunnels will be brought to life and made available to the public as part of the Vivid Festival.
dark spectrum It promises to deliver an elevated visual and audio experience underground in the tunnels of Wynyard Station in the heart of the CBD.
Secret tunnels will be lit and pulses of electronic dance music will blast through eight rooms, with each space representing a different human experience and an associated color.
Guests will move through themed rooms of separation, narrowing, compression, unseen, reflective, unfamiliar, connection, and end up inspired.
The event will run from Friday, May 26th to Saturday, June 17th and reservations are necessary to secure a time, with prices starting at $35 for adults and $24 for children.

For the first time, the Wynyard Station tunnels will be open for the public part of the annual Vivid Sydney Festival
Dark Spectrum will fuse a dynamic soundtrack with the latest in lasers, robotics, lighting and visual technology to transform ancient train tunnels.
One notable feature includes “Shrink” where 150 tubes of LED lights are suspended from the ceiling to form an interactive landscape of moving pixels that can be touched.
Guests will also be amazed by the “pressure” visual – an amazing array of 50 arches covered in lights and mirrors that create the optical illusion of an endless tunnel.
There will also be an Avatar-esque environment that features hundreds of hanging light chains punctuated by lit-up alien plants that respond to movement.
Vivid has worked closely with Sony Music, Mandylights and Culture Creative and it took them three years to bring this amazing event to life.

Diving beneath the surface of what is now one of the city’s busiest railways, Dark Spectrum is a truly enchanting and engaging experience for visitors to explore Sydney in a whole new way. I’m excited that we’re bringing to light little-known spaces across the city.
The Dark Spectrum experience will be unique with entry via the Wynyard Park Rooftop between York and Carrington Street.
