Sarah Ferguson has slammed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in her most piercing attack yet – saying the royals ‘can’t have it both ways’ if they choose to leave, saying they must decide if they want in or out.
The Duchess of York, 63, spoke candidly in an interview amid speculation about whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who have stepped down as senior members of the royal family, will attend the king’s coronation next month.
Talking to The Independent“You choose to leave, now go live it,” she said. In the interview, in which she didn’t directly refer to Harry and Meghan, she added: ‘Well, you can’t have it both ways. You cannot sit on a fence and keep one foot in and one foot out. You are either in or out.
And appearing on Today’s Loose Women, she reiterated her comments — saying she wasn’t expecting an invitation to the coronation because “you can’t have it both ways.”

Sarah, who still shares the Royal Lodge at Windsor with her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, is promoting her new romance A Curious Lady.
Despite being divorced, the Duchess is allowed to continue styling herself as Sarah, Duchess of York until she marries someone else, at which point she will forfeit her title.
Sarah once again reiterated the sentiment in an interview with Loose Women today.
Speaking to the panelists, she reveals that her plans for the coronation are to “watch it on TV”, put on some bunting and enjoy a “little tea room and coronation chicken sandwich”.
The Duchess even considers driving a corgi for a visit at a nearby nursing home.
“I always love watching it on TV because you hear so much on TV, the commentary is always good and then the whole family comes back,” she explained.
“Because remember I’m divorced from him so I don’t expect… you can’t have it both ways. You can’t just divorce and say ‘I want this.’”
Sarah continued, “I think it’s really great to be supportive…Also when the family comes home, I know all the details and the ins and outs on TV.”

Fergie also paid tribute to her ex-son-in-law as she predicted a huge day for both “the nation” and “the world.”
“He will be a wonderful king with a beautiful Camilla by his side,” said the Duchess, praising his environmental efforts in particular.
She also thinks it is “cool” that Camilla is “Queen” rather than “Queen Consort” as she has been “unfailingly with him”.
Prince Harry and Meghan made headlines in January 2020 when they announced that they would step down as senior members of the royal family and would no longer receive public funds.
“We intend to step back as senior members of the Royal Family and work towards becoming financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen,” they said in an announcement at the time.
The couple later moved to Montecito, California with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
And this isn’t the first time that Fergie has appeared to distance herself from Meghan.
The Duchess of York told The Telegraph she “doesn’t know” Meghan, who is currently living in her $14 million mansion in California after reneging on royal duty.
‘I don’t really know Meghan,’ said the mother-of-two. I haven’t really met her.
However, this claim comes in direct contradiction to the Sussex family, who claimed that Fergie was a friendly member of the royal family – they even recalled having drinks with Sarah at her home at the Royal Lodge.

In both the explosive Oprah Winfrey interview and the Harry Spear book, the Sussex family said it was Sarah who taught Meghan how to swing before her first meeting with the late Queen.
Elsewhere, Fergie said she and Meghan spoke at the Queen’s funeral in September, adding: ‘She looked absolutely lovely. I think it’s beautiful.’
In an interview with Oprah, which will be broadcast in early 2021, the Duchess of Sussex said Fergie was the person who taught her about invisibility.
She claimed that when she first went to meet the Queen at The Royal Lodge in Windsor, she didn’t even know how to swing, and was shocked when Harry made it clear it was expected of her.
Meghan said: ‘I got into it naively because I didn’t grow up knowing so much about the royal family. I didn’t quite understand what the job was.
The mother said that was the moment when “the penny fell” as her perception of the company was “too different” from reality, and she had to learn how to perform the royal habit “very quickly”.
She said: I didn’t know I would meet her until a few moments ago. We were in the car and we were going to the Royal Lodge for lunch, and (Harry) was like, “Oh, grandma’s here, she’ll be there after church.”
“Right in front of the house we rehearsed and ran. Fergie ran up and said, ‘Do you know how to rot?’ she remembers.
“ I obviously did a very deep curvature, I don’t remember, and then we sat there and talked.
Meanwhile, Harry also told a similar story in his book Spear, writing that he had actually hoped Fergie would be the first family member Meghan would meet as his girlfriend.
He wrote it in October 2016, explaining: “First stop, Royal Lodge. to meet Fergie, since Meg already knew Fergie’s daughter Yug, Jack, so this seemed like a logical baby move.
He added, ‘Fergie came out, kind of shivering, and said, ‘Do you know how to rot? Meg shook her head. Fergie showed up once. Meg imitated her.
“As we walked towards the door, Fergie and I turned toward Meg, whispering quick reminders. When you first meet the Queen, this is Your Majesty. After that it’s just madam. Rhymes with ham. We just said, whatever you do, don’t talk about it, we talk on top of each other.

After Meghan met the Queen, Harry wrote that they stayed at the Royal Lodge for drinks.
It’s unknown on what other occasions the two women may have crossed paths – Meghan only served as a working member of the royal family for a few years before moving to the US.
For months, speculation has swirled about whether Harry and Meghan will attend King Charles’ coronation on May 6, 2023.
Charles ascended the throne after the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8 last year, ending Her Majesty’s 70-year reign.
However, Harry and Meghan’s presence at the ceremony has been the subject of much speculation.
The couple’s need to make money from media deals “linked to their royal status” has reportedly angered the royal family.
It follows the release of Harry’s book Spare and the bombshell Netflix documentary the royal couple starred in a few months back.
Spear’s release and Harry and Meghan’s broadcast exposed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s grievances with other members of the royal family.
In a recent TV interview to promote his book, Harry declined to confirm whether he and Meghan would attend the coronation.
He has since confirmed that the duo had been invited but did not reveal if they would be attending.
